This afternoon, when we got home, I grabbed a basket and some shears and took Giuliana out to cut some of those beautiful lilacs. She stopped at the edge of the driveway and knelt down. At first I thought she had stumbled. Then she reached over and picked a dandelion. And put it in my basket, with no prompting, I swear. My first hand-picked bouquet from my beautiful daughter. Even prettier than my lilacs.
